After a self published EP and a small live recording for Stochastic Resonance, Kolmitt trio is back with a full-lenght album.
Following the path already outlined by the previous releases, the material included in the album was recoreded live and rearranged, after many studio improvisations.
The result is a composite and manifold material, that moves from spare and rarefied textures to odd beats and complex constructions. However, beyond this varietyit’s still very recognizable the proper sound of Kolmitt, which strongly characterizes their productions.
Born as a duo in 2012, Daniele Sergio and Roberto Begini started Kolmitt to create music using electronic and electro-acoustic elements.
In 2013 Federico Scettri joined the project. Kolmitt sound is inspired by different roots, mainly idm and drone/ambient music, with frequent drifts to noise, and deconstructed musical forms.
Currently oriented towards improvisation, defying the well known studio-constructed approach of actual electronic music. Their production is a large mass of multitrack studio recordings of impro sessions, later selected, revisited and finally remixed.
The live approach is shifted to a "play" mode, using at minimum automations and loops to give rise to totally improvised moments.
SR 010. Kolmitt - Chain Session
Stochastic Resonance is an independent label that moves within the experimental electronic scene in Rome. SR offers high quality products and outputs, whose ultimate goal is not only distribution and selling, but is found in the uniqueness of its artistic projects, which move between experimentation and harmony, sliding the sensible impulse into multimedia. Stochastic Resonance is a network of artists devoted to experimentation with new forms of communication, resulting from collaboration between different creative, digital and electronic languages, in order to produce a deeper and more perceptive work thanks to the mixture of genres and different sensory contributions.
The label takes its name from the physical phenomenon of the stochastic resonance, where a low level signal becomes louder and perceptible through the addition of other signals or even noise, the non signal for excellence. Taking inspiration from this phenomena, in every SR project, an idea is developed through a noise cloud coming from different sensitivities, producing an unique style in which beauty and technical are the two halves of a single, deeper thrust of contemporary art.
